The new season’s longer-length shirts are here to stay.

HOW TO WEAR THE WOVEN SHIRT

  • For work, pair your shirt with tailored pants, tuck it into a pencil skirt or belt it in the waist. Add a jacket and heels for a more dressed-up city style.
  • On the weekend, wear it with skinny jeans or denim shorts. Leave the hem loose and roll up the sleeves for a more casual feel. Throw on metallic gladiator sandals for easy sunshine chic.
  • For evening flair, slip on some heels and wear your shirt as a dress, with bare summer legs. Alternately, a shirt dress with slim-fitting black leggings gives a tuxedo feel.

The right fit

The key to this trend is getting the perfect fit. These shirts look best a little oversized. There should be no gaping buttons over your chest, and arms should be able move freely. Look for figure-flattering details that suit your body: a belted waist defines shape, smocking creates volume, the empire line allows you to hide a tummy and pin tucks elongate the torso. Balance the volume of longer shirts by keeping your lower half in slim-fitting items.
